Titans swimmers start the new Nationals Season with a splash

Ellesmere College's Ellie Southward and Chris Hooper have been chosen to captain the 2018 Shropshire County swimming team; a team that includes no fewer than 14 of their team mates.

The National County Team Swimming Championships is the traditional curtain raiser to Swim England's competitive short course season and this iconic event is always a riot of colour noise.

2018 will be no different and sees over 900 of the best young British swimmers from 39 counties competing to a packed house at the home of British Swimming - the Ponds Forge International Swimming Centre.

For many competitors, this is their first taste of representative team swimming beyond their club, a chance to make new friends, the opportunity to rub shoulders with the sport's emerging greats and often the spark to ignite a long-term passion for the sport.

The college swimmers receiving their Shropshire honours this year include three from Lower School (LS) and are:

· 12/13 Years: Katie Hale (LS), Henrietta D'Ammassa, Oliver Covill (LS), Jake Hutchinson (LS);

· 14/15 Years: Alex Rosser-Barnett, George Smith, Gerda Vasiliauskaite, Lola Oke; and

· 16/17 Years: Charlie Hutchison, Adam Metcalf, Joel Thompson, Chris Hooper, Ellie Southward, Anna Smail, Pia Murray.

The 'Nationals' season starts with the National County Team Championships 2018 to be held on Sunday 7 October 2018 at Ponds Forge, Ponds Forge International, Sheffield, S1 2BP.

Congratulations to all the swimmers receiving their honours this year and good luck for the season!
