Successful cricket tour to Barbados for academy team

Academy cricketers have recently returned from a successful tour in Barbados winning four out of their five games. The team, made up of 14 players from Ellesmere, took on the likes of Christ Church School and Combermere School who are one of the oldest, if not the oldest, secondary schools in Barbados with a notable cricket heritage.

The team began the tour at Welches Cricket Club just outside Bridgetown before heading onto win three of the remaining four matches. The highlight of the tour being Sam Owen's 138 not out against Ellerslie School, Saint Michael. Sam Owen, a senior member of the schools Cricket Academy, said "it was a fantastic 'never to miss' experience. It was a privilege to play in a country steeped in cricket history and is an honour to represent a first rate cricket school such as Ellesmere College". Ellesmere will be hosting a sports academy day on Saturday 26th January for anyone interested in meeting the coaches, understanding the sports academy philosophy and finding out about their sports scholarships.
