Seven Rugby Players To Represent The Midlands

Following the recent Midlands, North Midlands and Shropshire rugby selection trials, Ellesmere College is enjoying strong representation.

Tom King, Captain of the Ellesmere College 1st XV is currently playing with the Shropshire U18 team, North Midlands and Irish Exiles. Whilst fellow Year 13 students, George Baxter, William Goodwin, alongside twins, Bryn and Iwan Philips have all been selected to play for the U18 Midlands team as well as the North Midlands and  Shropshire County Teams.

Ross Mackail has been chosen to play for Shropshire County & Scottish Exiles.

Louis Chaudron, Colin Dickson and James Preston have all qualified for Shropshire County and the Midlands U16 teams, whilst also training as part of the Worcester Elite Player Development Programme.

Also gaining representative honours at U18 level are Robert Higgins, Lewis Jenkins, Adam King, Gareth Williams (all Shropshire County), George Baxter, Jack Baxter, Mike Finnemore, Ollie Thomas (all Shropshire County & N. Midlands)

Year 11 pupils, Kyle McNamara and Sam Owen play at U16 level for Shropshire County as well as being part of the Worcester Elite Player Development Group.  Matthew Dewhirst, James Latter, Edward Morris and Dominic Simpson represent Shropshire County.  Players in younger age groups are George Beal and Ali Miller (Cheshire U15), Owain Jones, Oliver Lock,  Ted Parker, Tom Parker and Lewis Suckling (Shropshire U15), JJ Broberg (Leicester Tigers Elite Player Development U14), Harry Cross, Tom Grieves, Freddie Holder, Robert Leighton, Chris Thatcher, James Thomas, Ben Wynne (all Shropshire County U14) and Mike Adams (Shropshire County and North Wales U14)

Ian Williams, Director of Sport at Ellesmere College commented, All these boys are dedicated to developing their rugby skills and I am delighted that they have been recognised for their ability and effort. Ellesmere College has in place a sporting programme that aims to produce international standard individuals in rugby and other sports.
