Seniors School Pupil Head for USA with Play

For three evenings next week, 22-24 March, Senior School pupils will be performing a modern adaptation of the classic J M Barrie play 'The Admirable Crichton'.  Updated to a contemporary reality television setting, the play tells the story of a group of people whose ideas about hierarchy and equality are tested to the limit when they are stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash.  With music, singing and dancing, the pupil cast will bring the story to life with a modern and appealing twist.

After performing at school, the ensemble will be boarding a plane themselves for Boston, USA, where they will spend a week touring the production around local schools, whilst staying at Ellesmere's partner school, Tabor Academy.
Media teacher and Director of the play, Margaret Hutchings, whose son Andrew is the author of the new version, said: 'The pupils have worked incredibly hard to bring the characters to life and to make a fantastic evening's entertainment for the audience.  We are all looking forward to meeting our Tabor friends again and experiencing some New England style hospitality.

Tickets are available from or via the Arts Centre Box Office, 01691 626545. The ticket price of 3 for adults and 1 for students will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Disaster Appeal.
