School to Welcome Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy in Summer Holidays

As part of a busy summer of fun courses, the School is looking forward to hosting their first Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy in August.

The School has a long tradition of developing sports talent which recently has included a tennis team from the School representing England at the World Schools Championships as well as 2 boys playing U16 rugby at national level.

In recent years Ellesmere has welcomed cricketers from across the United Kingdom to train and play at the School. This has included the hosting, over the last 2 years the finals of The Lady Taverners Girls National Outdoor Cricket Competition, the English Cricket Board girls pre-season training camps for U13 and U15 County sides as well as the England Disabled Team.

The week will be filled with quality coaching, challenges and games. Early booking is recommended as places are already beginning to be filled.

Freddie commented, Im delighted my Academy is at Ellesmere College this summer. Although it is sad that my playing career has come to an end, it does mean that I am able to devote more time to my Academy. I've been working on the curriculum and we've got some fantastic coaches on board.

During the week, there will be sessions led by the England team players as well as members of the England Womens team. Hazel Wakefield, Director of Enterprises commented, It is hoped that Freddie himself will be visit the School during the summer course. Shropshire has always been a great area for developing cricketers and since the aims of the Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy share the Schools Cricket Academy aim to continue this in the future, we are delighted that they will be running a course at the School this year.
