Ellesmere College was the best represented school at the recent Oswestry Youth Music Festival as pupils took part in a variety of classes and age ranges. Pupils achieved an impressive 11 first places performing Piano, String, Woodwind, Youth Choir, Folk and Musical Theatre disciplines.
The Oswestry Youth Music Festival is well established in the County Music Calendar, attracting entries from Shropshire, Cheshire, Wrexham and North and Mid Wales. Normally held in March of each year, the Festival includes a programme of individual, group and school opportunities linked with celebrity concerts.
Director of Music, Roger Paul, and his team of music teachers have been celebrating the success alongside their pupils, "As well as performing, the Ellesmere pupils enjoyed meeting and listening to performers from other schools. It was great for them to receive such encouraging feedback from the judges and win in a number of disciplines" Roger commented.
Ellesmere College welcomes scholarship applications from talented musical pupils, a number of the schools current music scholars played at the weekend's event.
