Pupils Excel in National Mathematics Challenge

Following their recent participation in the national Senior Mathematics Challenge a group of top performing pupils have now received their results.

Whilst 8 pupils achieved Silver awards, Year 12 pupil, Liyu Xu and Year 13 pupil, Lawrence Walters excelled in the Challenge and gained Gold awards with Liyu achieving the  Best in School award . Silver awards were gained by Aparajit Basu, Joshua Boswell, Tjark Dreyer, Deren Kong, Michael Kuepper, Xiaonan Peng,   Ami Takahashi and Patrick Weigel. Another 6 pupils also gained bronze awards. They were Douglas Allsop, Cheng-Yu Chaing, Po-Chun Tsai, Frank Murges, Nicholas West and Hugh Wignall. All the awards were presented by the Headmaster, Brendan Wignall, at the last assembly of the term.

John Cowley, Head of Mathematics commented, It is always good to see our pupils performing well in the Mathematics Challenge. There is no special preparation for it and so it is a real test of their mathematical ability. I particularly congratulate Lawrence and Liyu on their notable success.
