New Sports Facility Annouced

The School is to build a full size all-weather pitch to complement its already impressive sporting facilities. Although intended primarily for hockey it will be a multi-use pitch and there will also be opportunities for community use.
The College has 74 acres of grounds, that include many sports pitches, tennis courts, sports hall, indoor swimming pool and a golf course, but until now has not had an all-weather pitch.
Headmaster, Mr Brendan Wignall commented: I am delighted that the governors have taken the decision to go ahead with this project. It is a real testament to the confidence that we feel at Ellesmere College even in these difficult economic times that we continue to move ahead and develop the site. The girls hockey teams at Ellesmere are frequently amongst the best in the region, despite doing most of their training on grass. The addition of the all-weather surface should boost our performance further in this area and lead to even greater success.
The all-weather surface will be constructed on part of the additional 70 acres of land that was bought by the College in 2008.
