Hockey Stars Answer Wales Call

Ellesmere College Duo Caro and Lottie Hulme have been selected to attend the Hockey Wales International Development Programme. The 14 year old twins who play for Shropshire and Wrexham, have been nominated after a number of successful performances at the Wales 360 Hockey Centre in Wrexham, which aims to develop new young talent.

The Oswestry pair will be part of an elite group who will be heading down to Cardiff to attend the 'Red Shirt Sunday' which has been introduced by Hockey Wales as part of the Under 18 International Training Squads. The programme allows national age group players to access high quality coaching and regular training, which supports players transition into higher level international teams.Lottie said "I'm really pleased. I had always hoped that I'd get chosen but it was great when it was finally confirmed. To take part in this programme is a fantastic opportunity and one that I am really looking forward to"

Both girls have already attended training camps with the Wales Girls Under 16 squads at the National Hockey Centre in Cardiff and were part of a 20 strong team who were recently called up for further training.Helen Davenport, Head of PE at Ellesmere said "This is a great opening for the girls who are playing in the National Age Group of 16, even though they are only 14. They both have great potential and with the support of Hockey Wales will be able to develop all aspects of their game."
