October Open Day: A Warm Welcome to Ellesmere College!

On Saturday October 12th, Ellesmere College once again opened it's doors for it's Autumn Open Day and welcomed a record number of families for the day!

Current students from all year groups guided families on tours that spanned the whole of the College and took the opportunity to chat to them about 'Life at Ellesmere'. Visiting families were able to participate in various demonstrations, workshops, hands-on activities, as well as viewing some of our home-from-home boarding facilities!

All faculties and classrooms of the College were thriving, with a range of demonstrations showcasing different aspects of Ellesmere College. Families were able to experience our golf simulator and fencing display, the award-winning Tennis Centre and accomplished Shooting Range, as well as a range of musical performances and science experiments. In addition, they were also able to talk to a range of co-curricular and academic staff from each subject in the Library.

Elsewhere in the College, the CCF - Combined Cadet Force - showcased the range of activities provided to pupils alongside the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and families were able to explore all aspects of the Army, Navy and RAF demonstrations which involved shelter-making, ghillie suits, and a lifeboat!

After their tours, parents and children were able to relax and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in Big School, which was accompanied by music performed by the talented College Music Scholars. Families also had the opportunity to meet and chat with the Headmaster, Mr. Brendan Wignall, as well as members of the Ellesmere College Parents Society (ECPS).

Following the Headmasters Welcome Address, Mr. Wignall commented: "I am delighted that this October Open Day was so well attended and I am pleased to welcome so many local families as well as those from further afield looking to board with us here on a weekly or termly basis. I am always keen to ensure that the School's Open Days are meaningful to all our visitors and is traditionally supported well by current parents, and we are always delighted to meet families visiting us for the first time, as well as those enjoying a second visit."
