Ellesmere College BTEC students celebrate 100% pass rate

The latest BTEC Diploma results have been released and Ellesmere College students and teachers are celebrating with a 100% pass rate.

Six Ellesmere College students opted to complete the Extended Diploma - equal to 3 A Levels - and over 50% of grades achieved were Distinction star or Distinction with one student attaining the highest mark possible - three Distinction Stars. The average outcome for the BTEC Extended Diploma by Ellesmere students is equivalent to ABB at A level.

The BTEC Sport course is aimed at students who have their sights set on a career in the sporting, health and leisure industry and is seen as the ideal route into higher education and ultimately full-time employment within sport-related fields. Universities have continually recognised the quality of students who complete the BTEC programme and the skillsets acquired from the Diploma allows them to receive exceptional offers from a range of leading UK and international universities; including some high level sports scholarships.

Brendan Wignall, Ellesmere College Headmaster, said: "I am absolutely delighted for our students who have done so well on the BTEC Sports Diploma programme. Once again obtained a 100% pass rate which is a tremendous achievement.

"It's a testament to all the hard work both they and our staff have put in during the two years following both the core and elective modules which puts our students in the best possible position to succeed in their chosen career.

"Well done to all our students but special mentions must be given to Jacob Elliott, Amelia Rodd and Charlie Hutchison whose outstanding achievements are all the more remarkable given that all three train daily as competitive swimmers with the Titans.

"Ellesmere College is a strong supporter of the BTEC programme, the qualifications are highly regarded when students look to move into higher education and a great asset in seeking future employment. The continued success of the course is down to the innovative delivery of the components. The programme is delivered through a series of theory based and practical lessons, which allows the students to improve both knowledge and understanding in all areas of sport, including exercise, science and performance.

"We look forward now to the publication of the A Level and GCSE results in August."

The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A-Levels, the Diploma is equivalent is two A-Levels and the Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to one A-Level; both are usually taken alongside one or two additional A Levels as part of the broad offering of academic opportunities at the College.
