Two Ellesmere College Pupils Win at Oswestry Festival

Two pupils from the College were winners at the recent Oswestry Music Festival.

In the strings section of the competition, talented violin players, Luke Taylor and Michael Langton, won their classes. Luke, in Year 7 won the ‘12 and under’ and Michael, the ‘19 and under’ classes.  The Lower School Choir came second out of ten choirs participating. Bethan Jones, Lower School Music Teacher commented, ‘I was delighted with the choir’s performance. They were graded ‘outstanding’ and were awarded just one point less than the winning choir.’

Roger Paul, Director of Music commented, “I am very pleased with both our increased presence and success at this year’s Oswestry Music Festival. Congratulations go to Luke and Michael for winning their classes. Also a big ‘well done’ to our Junior and Senior Choirs who both came a close second in their classes on Friday, and also to Paddy Fuller, John Paul, and the 6th Form ensemble (Niall Crispin, Peter Heath and Toby Dell) who achieved 3rd place in their classes. This gives us a strong platform to build from and I look forward to further successes at next years’ event.”
