Ellesmere is participating in a National Drama Festival and will be performing an abridged version of 'Much Ado About Nothing' at The Oakengates Theatre, Telford, next week.

For the third year, Years 9 to 11 pupils from Ellesmere College Middle School are once again taking part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival with a half hour production of Much Ado About Nothing. The Festival is past of the Royal Shakespeare Company's programme to encourage Shakespeare plays being performed in schools. As part of the Festival, participants are invited for a workshop with the National Youth Theatre, where they will be performing their play.

On 26th January a group of Ellesmere pupils travelled to The Oakengates Theatre in Telford for their workshop. An instructive and interesting time was had by all and the National Youth Theatre actors were able to offer the pupils some sound advice. Claire Clewlow, the Director of the Ellesmere College Play commented, 'The pupils enjoyed very much the contact they made with professional actors, in a real theatre and I am sure that the advice given will be put to good use in the three performances of the play.'

The first two performances will be in the Ellesmere College Arts Centre on Wednesday 7th February at 4.15pm and Thursday 8th February at 7.30pm. To reserve a seat, contact Ellesmere on 01691 622321. The final performance will be at Telford's Oakengates on Friday February 9th, along with pupils from other schools, from 7pm onwards.'
