Year 11 Careers Conference Great Success

Ellesmere recently held its annual Year 11 Careers Conference and a record number of careers advisors were on hand to support the enquiries of pupils and their parents.

Professionals from over thirty walks of life were available to lend their expertise to the pupils at Ellesmere College and help them make their next subject choices with A-levels or the International Baccalaureate. The careers' advisors included current parents, former pupils and parents as well as representatives from businesses, including Midlands News Association and the legal firm, Veale Wasbrough. Shropshire's Emergency Services were represented as well as local Army, Royal Navy and Royal Marines school liaison officers. A Gap Year advisor also attended the event to provide advice to those considering taking a break after their time at school and before entering university.

Debra Joynson-Brooke, Head of Careers at Ellesmere College commented, 'The event has been running for the last five years and as the numbers of pupils in Year 11 have grown, so has the variety of requests for representatives from different companies and organisations. The School's main assembly hall, Big School, lends itself for such events and we are delighted that this year's Careers Conference was so well supported by all the careers' advisors.'
