Ellesmere College A Level Examination Results 2005

Once again students at Ellesmere College are celebrating top A level achievement.  The Schools academic team is delighted that students have achieved such excellent grades and are able to move on to the university of their choice.  Overall performance was very good and there have been some top class individual results with almost all departments recording 100% pass.  Overall 40% of grades achieved were the top A/B grades.

Whilst heartfelt congratulations go to all students there were some particularly notable performances that are worthy of specific mention.  Jennifer Sampson, Head Girl from Duddleston Heath gained 4 A grades and accepts her place at Edinburgh University to study Engineering. Charlotte White achieved 3 A grades and goes onto Cardiff University to read English. Kate Eisenstein from Oswestry took her A levels a year early, achieving the grades to secure her place at Manchester University.  The pass rate overall  for the girls at Ellesmere was 100% with 30%  at grade A, well above the national average.

The boys were not to be outdone with Hugh Adams, Head Boy, from Oswestry and Oliver Ashby from Ruthin achieving good grades in addition to both being outstanding sportsmen. Hugh goes on to progress his Sport Studies at Durham University and Oliver to study Medicine.  Another notable performance was from Michael Jarvis who lives in Ellesmere and joined the VIth Form at Ellesmere College from Lakelands. He will be spending the next twelve months in the Himalayas before going on to read Medicine next year.

Mr Brendan Wignall, Headmaster, said It is always pleasing to see our students enjoy the reward of their hard work.  We pride ourselves on helping young people to achieve academic success whilst at the same time developing the individual.  They deserve this success.  Credit must also go to the excellent work of our teaching staff and of course to parents for their support and encouragement.
