MOTHER & SON JAPANESE GCSE A* SUCCESS

Upon the suggestion of an examination officer, Hiroshi Amako, aged 10 sat beside his mother, Mrs. Marilyn Lloyd Amako, in the summer and they both took their Japanese GCSE. "Hiroshi walked out of the examination room long before the end of the time set which concerned me that he might not have understood the questions since I was struggling to complete them!' commented Marilyn. However, she did not need to have worried since both of them were awarded A* grades for their efforts.

Hiroshi is a Year 6 day-pupil at Ellesmere College where Marilyn is part of the Learning Support team and teaches English as an additional language to foreign students. Hiroshi was born in Japan and spent his first 8 years of his life there before coming to the UK and settling in Ruabon, North Wales. "It was fun to prepare for the examination with Mum, but it was a shame she did so well!' suggested Hiroshi. His mother also commented. "I am very proud of my son's success and expect him to take other GCSEs in the future, however I am happy to sit on my laurels from now on.'
