b'THE ELLESMERIAN17 The Lent term saw the Year 9 boys offering a glimpse of a promising sporting future by winning House Football. Elsewhere, the girls played some eye-catching netball and clearly enjoyed themselves: sometimes winning isnt everything. Academically, the essay-writing competition saw a host of Meynellians submitting their pieces about whether mathematics was discovered or invented; whether there should be a statue of Robert Clive in Shrewsbury; and whether the media coverage of the pandemic has helped or hindered the government response. Many thoughtful and thought-provoking responses were submitted that earned many points for the Academic Cup. As the term drew to its end, we moved into 2nd place on the leaderboard, a position we held throughout the rest of the year.The end of this most unusual year was marked by another first: House barbecues.
