D of E
The popularity of the outdoor pursuit programmes at the College leads naturally to a programme of expeditions both within the United Kingdom and beyond. Recent overseas expeditions have included canoeing in France, treks in Guyana, the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco and Ecuador.
The essence of the Scheme is to provide our pupils with a challenge that incorporates enterprise, initiative and leadership skills - all of which are highly regarded by prospective employers.
The D of E Award Scheme is hugely popular at Ellesmere College and we fully understand the benefits that our pupils stand to gain from such a rewarding Scheme.
- Year 9 Students will complete the Bronze Award.
- Year 10 - Year 11 Students will complete the Silver Award.
- Year 12 - Year 13 Students will complete the Gold Award.
If pupils would like to participate in practical, cultural and adventurous activities, having a concern for their development, then the Award Scheme is very much for them.
There are four Sections at each level of the Award Scheme -
- Volunteering
- Physical
- Skills
- Expedition - with an additional fifth Residential Section at Gold level.
