House Singing 2026 - A great win for Talbot

Last night (12th Feb 2026), our students came together for an evening of friendly competition at our annual House Singing event.

The theme for 2026 was the spectacular Eurovision. The standard was exceptional, with each House delivering energetic, creative performances that captured the spirit of the contest.

The Part Song category opened the evening, with Woodard performing "Volare," Meynell singing "Together," Talbot taking on "River," and Wakeman impressing with a beautiful French entry. In the House Song Unison round, tradition met Eurovision flair: Talbot paired Thine Be the Glory with Snap, Meynell combined Lord Jesus, Think on Me with Save All Your Kisses for Me, Woodard performed Dear Lord and Father of Mankind alongside Making Your Mind Up, and Wakeman blended When I Survey the Wondrous Cross with Love Shine a Light.

Our staff judges, Mr Stephen Welti, Ms Stephanie Rogers, and guest judge Alison Jarvis, had the unenviable task of selecting the winners. The results were incredibly close, reflecting the effort and dedication shown by all. Talbot claimed first place in the Part Song and Eurovision rounds, while Meynell triumphed in the Hymn category. Overall, congratulations go to Talbot for taking first place, with Meynell finishing a very well-deserved second.

Even our teachers couldn’t resist joining in the fun, delighting the audience with a staff medley featuring Puppet on a String, Congratulations, and a rousing ABBA finale of Waterloo and an extended Dancing Queen, fully embracing the Eurovision spirit.

Every House should be immensely proud; the enthusiasm, teamwork and talent on display made it a truly memorable evening. Well done to everyone involved!
