Gala Music Concert Kicks Off the Summer Term in Style

On Friday 17th April, Ellesmere College was filled with music, energy and excitement as pupils, parents and friends of the school gathered for our Gala Music Concert – a joyful celebration of what has been a truly outstanding musical year.

The evening featured performances from all of our choirs and musicians across the school, highlighting not only the breadth of musical talent at Ellesmere, but also the pupils’ clear sense of fun and love of performing together. Throughout the concert, there was a wonderful feeling of enthusiasm and shared enjoyment, with performers supporting one another and delighting in the opportunity to showcase music they genuinely care about. It was a powerful reminder that music at Ellesmere is not just about excellence, but about community, creativity and confidence.

The Gala also provided a meaningful opportunity to celebrate and thank our Year 13 students, who have given so much to the musical life of the College during their time with us. As performers, leaders and role models, they have helped shape an inclusive and positive musical culture, inspiring younger pupils and leaving a lasting legacy as they prepare to move on beyond Ellesmere.

Such evenings are only possible thanks to the dedication and passion of our exceptional music staff, who work tirelessly to create an environment where pupils feel encouraged, supported and excited to make music. Their commitment fosters a space in which pupils are free to explore, collaborate and perform with confidence, and the warmth and positivity of that environment was evident throughout the evening.

No Gala Music Concert would be complete without a few treasured traditions. Mr Blue Sky made its much-anticipated appearance once again, lifting spirits across the hall, while the now legendary school raffle added an extra layer of fun to an already vibrant event.

It was a fantastic celebration of music, people and community – and a truly uplifting way to kick off the summer term at Ellesmere College.
