Ellesmere Students Celebrate 2025 GCSE Success

Ellesmere College students are celebrating their GCSE results today.  The results published today saw 31% of all grades in the top 9-7 range (A*/A) and an 83% pass rate overall, with the girls taking that figure up to 89%. Significantly higher than the national pass rate of 67.4%, with 21.8% in the 9-7 band.

There were some particularly notable performances at the top band of level 9 and 8, (equivalent to A*/A) with several students achieving multiple level 9's and 8's within their GCSE portfolio of success.

Highlights of level 9/8 achievers

Anna (Nantwich) Six level 9’s and three level 8’s (A*/A)

Tabby (Ellesmere ) Four level 9’s, one level 8 (A*/A)

Arthur (Aston, Nantwich) Three level 9’s, one 8 (A*/A)

Monty (Shrewsbury) Two level 9’s and seven level 8’s (A*/A)

Lucy (Penley) Two level 9’s, six level 8’s (A*/A)

Gavin (Swansea) Three level 9’s (A*)

Some of these top performances were combined with dedicated engagement in Arts and Sports at a competitive level, which makes their achievement even more impressive.

Most of the current students are now looking forward to returning to the College in September to continue their academic journey into Sixth Form and study their choice of A Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB) for the next two years.

This follows on from last week's excellent A level results and destinations, which saw students celebrating a 97% pass rate at A level, with some outstanding individual performances and students securing places at top universities across the UK and overseas.

Mrs Vicky Pritt Roberts, Headmaster said "It is a pleasure to see how well pupils have achieved across the board, and rewarding to see nearly half of the 22 subjects offered achieve 100% pass rate. 

I commend all who have worked so diligently and congratulate them on their hard-earned success.  These GCSE results are a testament to their exceptional attitude, unwavering commitment, and perseverance throughout the academic year. This success reflects the dedication and hard work of the students, parents and the staff, who have supported them every step of the way. They are now very well prepared to embark on their Sixth Form programme with us and we look forward to seeing them in September."
