Ellesmere College Success at British Shooting North West & West Midlands Pistol Championships

On Wednesday 19th November 2025, Ellesmere College proudly hosted the British Shooting North West and West Midlands Pistol Championships, welcoming 125 athletes from across the UK for an exciting day of competition.

This year’s event drew participants from a wide geographical spread – from Dumfries in the North to Honiton in Devon, and from Haverfordwest in the West to Holt in Norfolk. The championships continue to be a fantastic opportunity for families to visit Ellesmere College, reinforcing the school’s reputation as a hub for sporting excellence.

Ellesmere College was well represented with seven talented athletes competing:

• Juniors: Ben and Charlie
• Seniors: Chris, Polly, Jake, Annie, and Oliver

The senior competition delivered a thrilling finale when Christopher and Oliver finished level on 212 points, leading to a dramatic single-shot shoot-off. Christopher edged ahead by just one point to claim victory.

Annie , currently in Year 11, impressed once again. Having already secured a place in the National Finals at the East Midlands, Yorkshire & North East Championships with a score of 208, Annie finished fifth overall against athletes two years her senior – a testament to her exceptional ability and bright future in the sport.

We wish Christopher, Oliver, and Annie the very best of luck as they head to the National Finals at Chase Leisure Centre on Tuesday 3rd February.

Team Success

• Senior School Team: Christopher, Oliver, and Annie combined for a remarkable 527/600, comfortably beating the next closest school (455/600).
• Youth Team: Christopher also led the West Midlands Regional Squad to victory in the youth category with 499/600, ahead of the next team’s 468/600.
