Ellesmere College In the Middle East

The Ellesmere College model has been replicated in the Middle East to expand access to state of the art education

Ellesmere College, based in Shropshire, England, has opened Ellesmere Muscat in the capital city of Oman catering for local and international students.

Ellesmere Muscat will deliver a world class education based on being an  International Baccalaureate World School, recognised as a premier global qualification, and developed in an effort to expand and meet the demand of the already thriving UK offering.

Headmaster Brendan Wignall said: “We are pleased to be able to replicate the Ellesmere model in our first overseas school in Muscat.

“It is a natural extension of the College’s long established commitment to developing a global perspective to learning and educating students from diverse international and cultural backgrounds around the world.

“In creating and developing these international locations, we are able to share our unique and award winning High Performance Learning model of education, but also develop our own creativity to learning in an increasingly global world, to the benefit of students, staff and society at large.

“The provision at Ellesmere Muscat is tailored to reflect the cultural context of the city the school is based in but has the same end goal - to help students achieve their full potential, wherever their talents may lie, and prepare them to be life ready.”

The ‘Life:Ready’ model was a fundamental part of developing the Ellesmere model into the Middle East. The ethos that every student is, and should be treated as, an individual is a principle that drive the learning, co-curricular and pastoral programmes to enable each student to flourish, grow and be successful on both academic and personal platforms.

Ellesmere College will work in close partnership with EC Muscat but the Oman campus will operate as an independent institution, with its own management teams and governing bodies. Ellesmere College is involved in setting standards and providing governance and oversight.

Ellesmere Muscat has highly qualified and experienced teachers which promote the love of continuous learning and skills development.

Neil Tomalin is the Principal of Ellesmere College Muscat and said: “Through Ellesmere Muscat, students will embark on a transformative educational journey, equipped with the skills needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.”

Ellesmere College is now in discussion with several other partners looking to expand the Ellesmere College family of schools into other territories around the world.
