Day 3: A Midweek Musical Marathon | Oswestry Youth Music Festival 2026

Day 3: A Midweek Musical Marathon | Oswestry Youth Music Festival 2026

The Oswestry Youth Music Festival is in full swing, and Day 3 saw our pupils diving into an incredibly diverse range of categories. From the storytelling of traditional folk songs to the high energy of Musical Theatre, the day was defined by a shared commitment to the stage.

๐ŸŽน Piano & Folk Traditions

The morning kicked off with a brilliant performance by Jack Wilks, who secured 3rd Place in the U15 Piano Solo with a stylish rendition of Jackson Street Blues.

The focus then shifted to the art of the Unaccompanied Folk Song, where the voice is the only instrument. Our singers embraced this challenge beautifully:

1st Place: Louisa Llewellyn Jenkins

2nd Place: VV Alkureishi

๐ŸŽผ Classical & Pop Artistry

Our 15 & Under vocalists continued to explore different genres with poise and passion:

Classical & Traditional: Esther Gration took 3rd Place with a lovely performance of Se Tu M'Ami.

Pop & Easy Listening: Eddie Harris gave an engaging performance of Elton John's I'm Still Standing to earn 3rd Place.

๐ŸŒŸ Ensemble Energy & The Reanimation Trophy

One of the day's true highlights was the 15 & Under Musical Theatre Ensemble. Members of Year 7 and 8 took to the stage with a medley from their upcoming production of Oliver!. Their energy was infectious, and we are thrilled to announce they were the winners of the Reanimation Trophy!

Rounding out the theatrical success, Isobel Philbin delivered a fantastic performance in the 15 & Under Musical Theatre solo class, placing 3rd.

โœจ Looking Ahead

Every performance this week is a chance to grow, and it is a privilege to watch our pupils seize these opportunities with such enthusiasm.

Tomorrow, the journey continues with our senior musicians—we can't wait to see what the next chapter of the festival brings!
