The Music Has Begun! | Oswestry Youth Music Festival 2026

The Oswestry Youth Music Festival is officially underway, and our pupils have hit the stage with incredible energy! With the festival expanded to a full week this year, there is a wonderful sense of excitement in the air as young musicians from across the region gather to share their craft.

Yesterday marked the beginning of this musical marathon, and we are so proud of how our pupils stepped into the spotlight with vigour, passion, and artistic courage.

Collaborative Spirits

In the 18 & Under Instrumental Duet class, we saw some fantastic teamwork:

• Alex Hu and his duet partner Lucinda (well done to both!) took 2nd place.
• Tabby and Emilia delivered a beautiful flute and saxophone performance, earning 3rd place.

Finding Their Voice

The afternoon and evening were dedicated to the vocalists. Our younger pupils embraced the opportunity to perform in Musical Theatre, Classical, and Traditional solo categories:

• Trixie gave a heartfelt rendition of Bob Chilcott’s Irish Blessing in the 11 & Under Vocal Solos, placing 3rd.

Beyond the results, it was a joy to see so many of our pupils—from our youngest singers to our senior instrumentalists—taking every opportunity to learn from the adjudicators and support their fellow performers.

The week is just getting started! We look forward to many more days of music-making and inspiration leading up to Sunday's Finals.
