A Tradition of Resilience: The 2026 Snowdon Run

Nineteen students and nine members of staff, including our Headmaster Jon, completed the annual Snowdon Run on Sunday, raising money for the Inspire Children and Youth Trust.

The team set off from the College at 4am and completed the gruelling 71.5-mile relay challenge to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), reaching the top after 14 hours of running and walking across roads, trails and challenging terrain.

The Snowdon Run has been a proud Ellesmere College tradition since 1999, with this year's participants aiming to raise £1,000 for the Inspire Children and Youth Trust. The charity was chosen after students visited its school in South Africa during a hockey and netball tour, where they saw first-hand the need for funding to purchase a tractor to help grow food for the children.

Beth Davies, our Head of Netball, praised the commitment of everyone involved.

"The Snowdon Run continues to be one of Ellesmere College's most treasured traditions. The determination, resilience and teamwork shown by every student and member of staff was outstanding. Despite the warm weather adding an extra challenge, spirits remained high throughout the day."

Supporters cheered the runners along the route and joined them for the final ascent, making the event a memorable celebration of teamwork, perseverance and community spirit.
