Speech Day 2026

We celebrated the end of another fantastic school year at our annual Speech Day!

Celebrating 2026 IB and BTEC Results!

We are celebrating the first set of external exam results, with impressive performances in both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and the BTEC L3 Sport qualifications.

A Tradition of Resilience: The 2026 Snowdon Run

Nineteen students and nine members of staff, including our Headmaster Jon, completed the annual Snowdon Run on Sunday, raising money for the Inspire Children and Youth Trust.

The team set off from the College at 4am and completed the gruelling 71.5-mile relay challenge to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), reaching the top after 14 hours of running and walking across roads, trails and challenging terrain.

John Cowley Represents Ellesmere College at DofE 70th Anniversary Celebration

We were delighted to have John Cowley represent Ellesmere College at the celebration of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award’s 70th anniversary at the Palace.

As a school with a long-standing commitment to the DofE programme, it was a fitting opportunity to recognise John’s incredible dedication and contribution over many years. A hugely valued member of staff, John has played an important role in supporting countless students through their DofE journeys at Ellesmere.

Our Lower School Tea Time Concert was a truly delightful afternoon and a wonderful celebration of our students’ growing confidence, dedication, and musical talent. Families, staff, and friends were treated to a programme of performances that highlighted the hard work of our young musicians.

Academic Lecture with an OE

We were pleased to host our final Academic Lecture of the year, featuring an inspiring contribution from Year 12 student Vlada, who explored the fascinating concept of the Twin Paradox. Her talk not only demonstrated academic curiosity but also encouraged fellow students to delve into subjects that genuinely spark their interest.

Day 2 Energy & Artistry at the Oswestry Youth Music Festival 2026

The second day of the festival has been a whirlwind of music-making, with our pupils embracing every opportunity to perform with passion and vigour. From the delicate touch of the piano to the power of the stage, the atmosphere at the Guildhall is truly inspiring.

The Oswestry Youth Music Festival is officially underway, and our pupils have hit the stage with incredible energy! With the festival expanded to a full week this year, there is a wonderful sense of excitement in the air as young musicians from across the region gather to share their craft.

House Singing 2026 - A great win for Talbot

College rugby stars set to touch down in South America

Rugby stars at a Shropshire college are set to touch down in South America as they go on their first tour in the continent.

Thirty players from Ellesmere College will head to Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil this week to perfect their skills and take in the sights.

Ellesmere Finalists at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition

Ellesmere College were delighted to be finalists in the largest national youth choir competition in the UK. Attracting entries from over 350 schools, 7 senior choirs were given the opportunity to perform on stage at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the country’s best concert hall. Eventually it came down to a single mark that divided four of the choirs in contention, underlining the high standards achieved by the choirs.

The festival, in its 47th year, saw a record 525 entries involving about 1,000 young musicians from 40 schools across Shropshire and North Wales – with Ellesmere College collecting 20 first places.

A team from Ellesmere College has lifted a national pistol shooting title – a record fourth success in as many years for the Shropshire school.

The win at the national final of the British Shooting Schools Pistol Championships follows on from impressive showings by the three students both individually and as a team at the regional championships at the end of last year.
