Scholarships & Bursaries

The College was built by passionate philanthropists and has a long tradition of recognising talent and supporting students for whom the full fees would prove a barrier to entry. A wide variety of scholarships, exhibitions and awards are available, plus means-tested bursaries can be offered to further supplement these awards.

We encourage all applicants to consider Ellesmere, regardless of whether they think they can afford the full tuition fees. We do our best to admit and support a wide variety of students from many diverse backgrounds. Full information on the College's Scholarship and Bursary programme can be found in the information booklet below.

Other Sources of Bursary Assistance

In addition to the School's Bursary Fund, there are a number of educational and charitable trusts which provide assistance with tuition fees. In the majority of cases, these are to assist children who are already attending a fee paying school and due to a change of circumstances may be unable to remain. The College encourages parents/ guardians to apply for support where it is felt a good case can be made for assistance. Further information on how to pursue such assistance may be obtained from:

"I was nominated for, and won, the Silver Cross Academic Scholarship, which was created by Mr. Alan Halsall, himself an Old Ellesmerian. I know that without the support and encouragement at Ellesmere I would not have been able to attend the school. This opportunity is fantastic". Read Ben's Story
