Shannon Sets Sights on Olympic Squads

Year 12 student Shannon Davies has had an unforgettable season in target shooting with a hat trick of wins.

Shannon competed in her first Junior International Match and was successful in winning a Bronze in the 50m prone. She was selected for the British School's Team in the international against Denmark, helping Team GB to an overall win and posting the second highest score in the match.

Shannon's remarkable progress in top level sport was then crowned by her selection as part of the Senior GB Ladies Team to shoot against the USA in the Randle Match, in which she was the youngest competitor by nine years.

Not only did Team GB win this competition, but Shannon achieved the fourth highest score with 400 out of 400 and 29 perfect centres beating all the American teams scores.

Shannon said "I started shooting as a hobby at school and with every session I noticed the improvement in my technique and accuracy. I want to see how good I could actually be and how far I can take the sport in a competitive environment".

To finish off a successful month of competition Shannon also won the National Junior Championship for Under 18s.

"My goal for the future is the 2018 Commonwealth Games and beyond that who knows, maybe the Olympics" she said.
