Following a most useful and entertaining Ballroom Dancing Master Class held at the School, a cheque was recently presented to Mr & Mrs Ron Powell of the JAR Dance Group in Hope, near Wrexham, by Mrs Sena Parry, Chairperson and Mrs Amanda Venner, Vice-Chair of the Parents Society.  The cheque is in aid of Riding for the Disabled and Mr & Mrs Powell have said they will put the proceeds towards a pony they sponsor at the Clwyd Special Riding Centre in Llanfynydd near Wrexham.

For many years Ron & Jean Powell have run Modern Ballroom and Latin dancing classes and have always waived their fee, in favour of donating the proceeds to their cherished charities.  When asked by their friend Mrs Pat Venner, whether they would consider leading a master class at the School, the pair jumped at the opportunity, and decided on the Riding for the Disabled as their chosen charity for this successful event.

Parents Society Chairperson, Sena Parry commented The Parents Society are always looking for new ways of engaging with parents as well as pupils and staff, and the Ballroom Dancing class was a novel idea suggested by committee member and dancing enthusiast, Mrs Susanne Gereke.  The evening was light-hearted and fun, with not too many bruised toes at the end!  We were obviously delighted to have the support of Ron & Jean and also to be able to donate 150 to the RDA and the excellent work done at the Clwyd Special Riding Centre.
