Netball Results 21st January 2006

Saturday, 21st Jan was a busy day for Ellesmere College Netball teams with 5 Games being played. The U12, U13 and U14 hosted Abbots Bromley in the morning and the Senior 1sts and 2nds hosted Bedstone College in the afternoon. U12, U13 and U14 v Abbots Bromley After a poor start last week for the U14's, the team were ready to put things right this week. The team played well throughout the whole game with excellent zig - zag passing down the court at times. It was a good clean match with the shooters Rebecca Britton and Zoe Haynes working well together. A close match with Ellesmere coming out on top to win 10 - 8. Player of the match was Tanya Renner. The U13's continued their winning run again this week, although they had to work hard throughout the game. Sophie Halstead, Zoe Evans and Lucy Forgrave continue to work well in attack, with Sophie receiving Player of the match. The game finished 16 - 10 to Ellesmere. The U12's have worked hard all week on patterns of play down the court. This showed during the game, with a huge improvement being recognised from last week. This was a close game, Ellesmere were winning up till half way and it could have gone either way. Unfortunately, Abbots Bromley won by 2 goals. Player of the match was Paige Rudd. 1sts and 2nds v Bedstone The firsts have started the season off well, with a win last Wednesday against a strong Kings Chester team. Knowing that this would be a totally different game the girls were well up for the challenge and showed confidence from the start! The girls started off well putting pressure on Bedstone's defence and went into a 6 - 3 lead in the First quarter. This was to be the pattern of the game with Bedstone making simple errors due to good anticipation from Buffy and Sam in defence. This was a good performance. It wasn't the nicest of games as it got heated in parts but Ellesmere kept their heads and played sensibly to win 22 - 8. Tiffany was awarded player of the match. The seconds, who are as motivated as the firsts this year, enjoyed their first game of the season with a win. This was a good performance from a side that are getting used to one another. Chloe Mitchell showed intelligent play, she paced the game well and switched the play when needed. Eli Moss as GA worked hard and moved well in attack. Player of the match was Sedge Beswick for her athletism around the court. The game finished 13 - 8. Well done to all the teams!
