Ellesmere College Pupil Gains Great Britain Swimming Ranking

A Year 11 pupil, James Wilson, has become the country's No.4 ranked swimmer in the U16 age group.

Following years of early morning swims and more recently further training during the school day, James is delighted that, following the Midlands Open Swimming Competition held in Nuneaton recently, when he came third, he has now gained this significant national ranking. James is keen to qualify for the 2012 Olympics and the daily training schedule will continue throughout the year.

His Housemaster, Gareth Owen, commented: 'This is an excellent achievement by James who demonstrates that it is possible, through dedication and hard work, to combine both academic studies and a high level of sports achievement. We wish James continued success as he focuses on developing his swimming talent.'
