ELLESMERE COLLEGE GOES INTERNATIONAL

The start of the new academic year at Ellesmere College has seen the arrival of 140 new pupils with a number coming from various countries around the world.

Some of the pupils have joined to take A Levels and GCSEs at the College. The majority, however, have come to prepare for, or to embark upon, the International Baccalaureate - a qualification whose academic excellence is renowned worldwide and a course which was launched at Ellesmere last year for both UK and overseas pupils.

Cathy Allen, the English Teacher who is the international pupil coordinator commented, 'Ellesmere College is delighted that such a large group this year have decided to come to Shropshire and continue their education at Ellesmere College. We are happy to welcome international pupils from Germany, Spain, Ukraine, China and Japan. These pupils certainly help to increase the knowledge of global matters for all our pupils.'

A group of international pupils supported the recent Ellesmere College Lower School Open Morning, sharing details about their countries with visiting families as well as organising games and food from around the world to share with visitors and current pupils.
