Ellesmere College Choral Society Forthcoming Concert

The College will be alive with the sound of music from France and Italy next Saturday, 13th March when the Ellesmere College Choral Society presents pieces from Faure and Vivaldi.

Pupils, staff, parents and members of the local community are all represented in the Ellesmere College Choral Society which has existed for many decades and annually performs a concert that takes place in the College Chapel.

The concert will include the 3 professional soloists from Manchester, Roger Barlow, Sasha Jonhson-Manning and Holly Marland, as well as the Ellesmere Chamber Orchestra which includes some of the College’s Music Scholars, Afra Ekert, in Year 13, Oboe, George Fradley in Year 10, Timpani and Year 9 pupils John Paul, Cello and Luke Taylor, Violin.

The Ellesmere College Choral Society has been rehearsing for many months under the direction of Roger Pau, Director of Music, who will be conducting the performance on Saturday. Roger Paul commented,  ‘this year we have focused our efforts on Faure’s Requiem and Vivaldi’s Gloria  and everyone connected with the Choral Society are looking forward to performing on  Saturday. The soloists and orchestra are excellent and they complemented the months of hard work that the Society has put into rehearsals.  Several of the College’s Music Scholars will be performing in the orchestra, along with professional players, and this will be a valuable experience for them .’

The Concert, performed in the School’s Chapel will start at 7pm. Tickets are available through the College’s Box Office, telephone no. 01691 626545 or by emailing helen.coney@ellesmere.com.

The Ellesmere College Choral Society meet in the School’s Arts Centre from 7.30 – 9.00pm every Monday night during term and new members are always welcome.
