Pre-Season Cricket Courses at Ellesmere College a Huge Success

The sports hall and cricket nets at Ellesmere during the Easter break have seen much activity as groups of boys have been enjoying Easter holiday pre-season cricket courses.

For the second year, the College organised cricket courses for boys aged 7 to 14. Boys from around the county enjoyed cricket coaching from two well-known Shropshire cricket coaches, Rod Jones and Jason Weaver.

Rod Jones who also teaches cricket at Ellesmere explained, ‘The aim of the courses has been to prepare the boys for the start of the season. Batting and bowling skills have been practiced on the excellent outdoor nets whilst in the Sports Hall, at the start of each day, we have worked on providing a variety of warm-ups. Emphasis is on having fun as well as learning the technical aspects of the game to help develop the young players’ cricket skills for the forthcoming season.’
