Athletics Success for Ellesmere College Pupils

Last month saw a variety of athletics successes for Ellesmere College pupils. Oliver Blake (from Oswestry) continued his outstanding season at the County Championships winning the 800 metres and finishing 2nd in the 1500 metres. This result is particularly impressive as Oliver is still only 15 and was competing for the first time at U17 level. More recently the county combined events have taken place where pupils undertake five events in one evening including hurdles, shot, jump events and a final 800 metres. At senior level James Bubb (from Newport ) retained his title and was joined by Stephen Bannister (from Ellesmere) who was the overall winner of the junior boys' section. Stephen now moves forward to represent Shropshire at the regional championships which take place later this month. Ahtletics is one of the many sports at which Ellesmere College excels, and for the first time this year sports scholarships are available for boys and girls of outstanding talent. Details about the scholarships can be obtained from the Headmaster's Secretary on 01691 622321.
