Arena Arts Programme

NEW: Download our Arena Arts Update for Spring 2008!

The Arena Arts Programme aims to promote the arts both within Ellesmere College and throughout the wider community.

It covers the established performing arts of dance, drama and music and the traditionall visual arts of drawing, painting and sculpture as well as more modern media arts such as film making, sound recording and digital photography.

There are Arena scholarships available to gifted and talented pupils in the performing, visual and media arts; regular master classes by visiting professionals and involvement in national competitions and festivals.

We are committed to the continuing development of The Arts as a benefit to all. From the exciting Expressive Arts program in the Lower School, through choirs, ensembles, plays, workshops, visiting performers and trips to theatre and concert hall, every pupil has the opportunity to become involved.

Based in and around the purpose built college Arts Centre, drama and music play a large part in the life of the school. A program of House and School plays (even the staff have a regular spot) allows everyone to contribute as a performer, technical guru, stagehand, set constructor - in fact as part of a large team.

Possessing two fine organs in the main school building it is rare not to hear music at some stage of the day!

The practice wing in the Arts Centre is in use all day, every day and there are various musical groupings in which pupils participate.

The Ellesmere College Arena Arts Programme is supported by Daniel Craig, actor, Meera Syal, prominent journalist, writer and actor, and Luke Pritchard of "The Kooks"
