Examination Results
August 2010
A level
Overall performance was most pleasing with 95% of students achieving pass grades including some top class individual results of straight A’s and a number gaining the new A* grade at A level. Over 41% of grades achieved were the top A/B grades with top grades secured by our girls at 45% of all grades. Nearly 5% of grades awarded were the new A* which is only awarded to those scoring over 90% in exam papers. The girls A* grade outturn is nearly 10% of all grades. The average ucas points for A level 2010 stand at 304, just over 3 B grades. Most departments recorded 100% pass.
International Baccalaureate
These pleasing results follow the International Baccalaureate results published In July. We broke the 40 point barrier this summer with two students gaining a final score over 40 points. The maximum point score for IB is 45, Stella Lesch achieved 42 and Afra Ekert 40. The average ucas points for IB 2010 are 410, equivalent to 2A* and 2 A grades per student. The combined ucas points for sixth form leavers in 2010 averages 352 points – close to 3A grades at A level.
GCSE
At GCSE 83% were A* to C grades with girls achieving 98% at A* to C. It was pleasing to note that over 25% of all grades were the top grades of A*/A with girls pushing that up to a very impressive 45% - an excellent performance by students. Many departments recorded 100% pass rate. The introduction of the new GCSE schemes saw a number of modular results for year 10 which were predominately A and B standard, which is an encouraging preview of GCSE results for 2011.
