Parents' Society
Membership
All parents of pupils in the School are members of the Parents' Society. Parents of pupils who have left the School often ask to continue to be involved and to receive mailings from the Society and this is encouraged.
Purpose
The long-standing Parents’ Society exists to promote social interaction between parents and staff. Its aim is to assist parents in feeling part of the School community and to encourage social involvement. The Parents’ Society does not have a specific parent/teacher liaison role as all matters relating to a pupil’s education and development are best covered directly from parents to the Housemaster or Housemistress.
Constitution
The Parents' Society is organised by a committee of parents with a chairman, secretary and treasurer. The AGM, where election to the committee takes place, is held each Autumn Term and all parents are invited to attend.
Activities
Annual events include: a formal ball at the beginning of the academic year, giving new parents the opportunity to meet other parents, an art exhibition in the Lent Term and a family Summer Picnic. There are also flower arranging workshops organised by the Parents’ Society and support is given by Parents’ Society members to College Open Days.
Ellesmere is well known for the splendour of its floral displays and parents are most welcome to join with College staff and friends in arranging flowers for all manner of occasions.
