Old Ellesmerians

Founders' Gate, below the clock and bell tower housing the school reception was refurbished, both inside and out, to mark the Millennium Year 2000, by courtesy of the Old Ellesmerian Club.

More recently, the OE Club have further contributed to this area of the School by the installation of two trophy cabinets.

The Ellesmere College Appeal, launched in 2001, has from the beginning been generously supported by former pupils. The Sports Centre, opened 2004, was made possible by many donations and covenants from the Old Ellesmerian fraternity. However, the Appeal continues and to enable the school to continue to invest in the facilities and deliver future projects. The current challenge is to raise the funds to enable the integration of an indoor swimming pool within the Sports Centre. There are a number of different ways support can be given, including gift-aided donations, covenants and legacies.

The majority of former pupils join the Old Ellesmerian Club. Members are entitled to receive a copy of the 'Old Ellesmerian' newsletter and can obtain a copy of 'The Ellesmerian', the School Magazine. Members are also kept up to date with news of development at Ellesmere.

Members of the Club come together for a number of regional dinners covering the entire country. Sporting events, including a golf day and cricket matches in various former pupil knock-out competitions, serve as another opportunity for former pupils to keep in touch. The annual Rememberance Sunday Service at the College gives former pupils to gather for worship with current pupils, parents and staff.
